Sante D’Orazio

The italo-american Fashion- and Starphotographer Sante D´Orazio - born 1956 in Brooklyn/New York - in the 90´s made a name for himself as the epitome creator of supermodel stardom. Not only alluring beauties and cool Stars all undressed for him and made him world-famous, D´Orazion himself became an icon, embodying a whole era with his way of life and work.
For this new Schirmer/Mosel Portfolio „Polaroids“ D´Orazio searched deeply in his archive and edited an exquisite collection of 105 pictures, „Pre-studies“, so to say, of his assignments for Vogue, Esquire and Vanity Fair. Obviously D´Orazio could ever go that one step further than his colleagues and held the key to the more intimate moments of his Star-subjects.
A Who-is-Who of Supermodels, actors and Showbiz - as f.i. Kate Moss, Cindy Crawford, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Michelle Pfeiffer, Carla Bruni - can be seen in unusually open poses - exceedingly beautiful, unreachable, yet in a carefree, intimate atmosphere.
The Making-of-Photos in „Polaroids“ show, how in a playful, yet highly concentrated approach D´Orazio captures his motives and models: „You can´t force good photos, you have to let them develop their own way“, he says.
