Anton Corbijn

The reason for this, to date, largest display of Corbijn's work, is to celebrate his sixtieth birthday this year. With two exhibitions in two separate venues, the museums in Den Haag are honouring one of the world's best-known portrait photographers.

The Gemeentemuseum is presenting Hollands Deep, which covers Corbijn's path from pop music lover to successful photographer and multi-faceted artist.

In contrast, the Fotomuseum Den Haag's 1-2-3-4 exhibition explores the relationship between the photographer and the many musicians he has worked with for a very long time.

Corbijn started out by photographing concerts in 1972. Since the eighties he has also been working as a graphic designer and a video director for bands such as U2 and Depeche Mode. In 2011 he received the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Award in Amsterdam.
