As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, Magnum Photos is collaborating with Staley-Wise Gallery on a summer exhibition celebrating 24 female documentary and fashion photographers; a dozen of them from the Magnum artist cooperative and a dozen chosen by the gallery. All of the photographs are by women, and of women, and the different visions of life, femininity and sexuality they present make for a very refreshing change from the male gaze. Head down to Staley-Wise before the end of the month to admire Deborah Turbeville’s shoots from Vogue in the 1970s, Ellen von Unwerth’s portraits of Rihanna, Bieke Depoorter’s intimate portraits of American life and so much more besides.
