To coincide with New York Fashion Week, Red Hook Labs is partnering with 1 Granary – a magazine, website and network run by students from the world’s four most influential fashion departments – to present a showcase of tomorrow’s design talent. But rather than staging a runway show, they’ve asked leading fashion photographers and stylists to showcase the most promising students from each department: Daniel Jackson and Alastair McKimm cover Parsons in New York, Sam Rock and Lyson Marchessault cover the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Patrick Bienert & Max Von Gumppenberg and Robbie Spencer cover Central Saint Martins and James Robjant and Eliza Conlon cover the Royal College of Art in London. As one might expect from a student-led initiative, it’s a highly innovative approach and a great way of turning tomorrow’s fashion into suites of timeless images.
