Vinca Petersen: Deuce and a Quarter

n 1999, model and photographer Vinca Petersen drove across Texas with the legendary grunge photographer Corinne Day, Corinne’s agent and friend Susie Babchick, and the model Rosemary Ferguson, taking photographs as they went. They drove a white 1970s Buick Electra 225, and the book’s title ‘Deuce and a Quarter’ references the slang name for that particular model of car; which, to quote Urban Dictionary, ‘can be pimped out like no other’. Now 100 of Petersen’s never-before-seen pictures have been gathered together into a relaxed and informal record of four young women on a journey across the South: you’ll join them hanging out in motels, dancing with old cowboys in dive bars, driving into lakes, and just enjoying the last days of a wonderful century.
