Belgian artist Peter De Potter first caught the fashion world’s eye through his collaborations with his countryman Raf Simons: he was in charge of all of Raf’s imagery from 2001 to 2010, and also art directed their book ‘Raf Simons Redux’ (2005). Everything he touches seems to become a collector’s item. His latest project ‘All Statues Sing Protest Songs’ (its 500 copies are likely to sell out soon, so best to hurry!) is a book of photographs and collages exploring the relationship between youth culture and the internet. Furthermore each book comes with a small black-and-white zine harking back to the days before the internet. De Potter explains: “‘All Statues Sing Protest Songs’ is a romantic title. It conjures up a beautiful image; it’s both activist and melancholic. To me, it feels fitting in the current climate of political shifts and traumas. At the same time, I think it’s a stridently joyous line.”
