Miles Aldridge in London

Last year, British photographer Miles Aldridge was invited by Italian conceptual artist Maurizio Cattelan to shoot a fashion story in the latter’s exhibition ‘Not Afraid of Love’ at La Monnaie, Paris. The pair of them spent the night in the opulent museum together and shot some extraordinary images: one particularly memorable composition shows a naked, statuesque, cotton-candy-haired model inspecting – dominating really – a tiny waxwork self-portrait of the artist hanging from the wall. So pleased was Aldridge with how these photographs made ‘after’ Cattelan came out, he decided to make some more works after favourite artists: the ‘living sculptures’ Gilbert & George and the author Harland Miller; all of which are now on display at Lyndsey Ingram. Says Aldridge: ‘In my work there is always a push and pull between high and low art.’
