A new show by Kurt Paris, Malta’s leading fashion photographer, has just opened in an 18th-century palace in the city of Mdina. However, despite the beautiful pictures and the lavish Mediterranean setting, it takes a rather sombre theme: ‘Solitude’. Paris’s latest works explores what it’s like to feel alone at this moment in time, when our phones feed us constant streams of information about other people’s lives, often in the form of photographs and videos. ‘We have never been as connected yet disconnected,’ he explains, ‘almost as if we live in two worlds, both running in parallel, often unsure which one we are truly part of.’ So if you’re feeling lonesome, remember that you’re not alone; and make your way down to Palazzo de Piro if you can.
