„Women in Music“ is a Photography Exhibition in the wake of Reeperbahn Festival

In her project LADYFLASH Katja Ruge shows shots of exceptional women in Music, with presence and creativity in the music business. Katja Ruge shows her Portraits in the diversity and conscience of self dependent female musicians, doing their own thing in music, in a surrounding scene of Pop nd R’n’B, creating their very own music´s movement.
The centerpiece of 25 years work is Björk, on a green between Hamburg Harbour and the Tropical Hospital. Pics of Peaches, M.I.A., Beth Ditto, Agnes Obel and Helena Hauff add up to just a random selection. They all are part of a new musical scene: self-conscious in their very ways musically with music, songs, texts, productions and artwork.
Accompanied by her own experiences with her work on the female musicians empowers the viewer to be in a gaze to their life, their tours, interviews and their time in the studio. Famous german and international women from Pop, Electronics over Indie-Pop to singer-songwriters.
The expressive portraits have been produced in publications like Intro, Missy Magazin, Spex, Rolling Stone Germany, Musik Express and others. „Women in Music“ is a focus on  women´s rights and gender studies, stressing the scarcity of women in the business.
Though women have been overlooked in classical or† art music or in the popular field. At the end of the 20th century women step out of the shadows of men, experiencing autonomy and self esteem, even in that cultural discrepancies supersede and an engagement in the field take the field. Katja Ruge wants to clear that issue in her work.
The exhibition is framed by the Reeperbahn Festival 2016, surrounded by „Keychange Projects“. Supported by worldwide partnerships the festival strives to augment the position of women in the musical space.
