Juergen Teller in Winterthur
06/01/2018
After completing his studies at Munich’s Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Photographie, Juergen Teller moved to London in 1986 with the dream of taking pictures for a living. His great breakthrough came five years later, shooting portraits of Kurt Cobain on Nirvana’s Nevermind release tour in 1991, and from there, well, he’s continued to rise and rise through the worlds of art, documentary, fashion and everything else besides. Teller shoots everything – the poster for this exhibition is a snapshot of a toad standing on a plate – but there’s one beautiful thread that brings everything together, whether he’s following Kim Kardashian’s backside across a pile of rubble or shooting loving portraits of his mother in the woods: a love of life and all it has to offer.
