Holly Hay and Shonagh Marshall: Posturing

Fashion imagery in the early 2000s was hyper-sexualised and obsessed with celebrity, glamour and unattainable physiques. But now, say photographic director Holly Hay and independent curator Shonagh Marshall, a new generation of photographers has emerged with a new focus: how to represent the body, and tell stories about identity, in different ways. They call this new movement ‘Posturing’, they say it’s the first new movement in fashion photography in more than a decade, and now they’re sharing it with the world through this portfolio of images from 21 of its leading lights: Andrea Artemisio, Bibi Cornejo Borthwick, Blommers & Schumm, Brianna Capozzi, Casper Sejersen, Charlie Engman, Charlotte Wales, Coco Capitán, Estelle Hanania, Hanna Moon, Johnny Dufort, Joyce Ng, Lena C. Emery, Mark Peckmezian, Marton Perlaki, Pascal Gambarte, Reto Schmid, Suffo Moncloa, Tim Elkaïm, Tyrone Lebon and Zoë Ghertner.
