“Da schau her!” - Bavarian for “Look at that!”

That Ellen von Unwerth is usually a surprise in herself could be grasped on Fashion Week NYC last season, when she talked about a new and thrilling book project with her publisher Benedikt Taschen, himself good for any surprise and luckily the owner of his own gallery.

Well: Surprise, surprise, now „Heimat“ a world-exclusive glimpse can be made into the Taschen/Unwerth First Folio - memories of her childhood in Bavaria.

And - what else? - young girls, laughing, having fun and enjoying themselves (and us), in ‘Dirndls’, folkloric garb in the Bavarian Alps… quite the fun all her girls seem to have, regardless of settings (we modestly point to our Cow Girl Production in Leica S Magazine), around the world, as ever for Ellen.

Logically the Title of the exhibition is set in Old German Characters not in use since Wilhelm II, obviously a bavarian allusion. And since Unwerth, Taschen and Bavaria are known in L.A., and since even in California one likes beautiful gals in short provincial clothes, the success of these series is foreseeable. A humorous, bavarian pastiche-pasture!
