Italian photographer Guido Argentini was born in Florence, the city of the artists, in the 1960s and now lives and works in Los Angeles, the city of the angels, where he shoots for titles such as Vogue, Marie Claire and Playboy. His new art book ‘Eros’ is a collection of harmonious photographic diptychs. On one page he places a sensual portrait of a beautiful woman; and on the facing page, a landscape or still life chosen to complement her image and suggest a wider context. For instance, a naked girl bathed in golden light juxtaposed against some real gold bars, or a lady looking out of a car window opposite a plane high above in the blue sky. These arrangements look incredibly cinematic, but as for the story; that’s up to you to decide.
