Dewey Nicks: Polaroids of Women

American photographer Dewey Nicks began shooting fashion photography and advertising in 1986. By the 1990s he was working with some of the most famous and iconic women in the world: Shalom Harlow, Cindy Crawford, Cher, Patricia Arquette and so many others besides. Not long ago, Nicks was rooting through his archive and found a long-lost and forgotten shoebox filled with thousands of faded Polaroids from his shoots, revealing his subjects in the casual, unguarded moments between shots. And next thing you know, he was collaborating with book designer and publisher Tom Adler on this collection, which forms an intimate portrait of the end of an era, right before the digital age changed everything forever.
