To quote Anna Wintour: ‘The most wonderful thing about Claudia Schiffer is that she has always been Claudia – more beautiful and provocative than any other image or campaign.’ Her whole life was turned upside-down in a Düsseldorf nightclub when, aged only 17, a stranger asked if she would like to become a model. Just a couple years after that, in 1989, Ellen von Unwerth shot Claudia for a Guess? campaign that brought her to many people’s attention, and by the 1990s she had become one of the world-famous ‘Supermodels’ that would come to define that decade.
