For ‘Well Behaved Women’, New York photographer Brianna Capozzi assembled a cast of her eight favourite muses: actor Chloe Sevigny,
models Mari Malek, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Guinevere Van Seenus and Natasa Vojnovic, musician Aerial East, writer Okwui Okpokwasili, and her very own mother Marie Capozzi. The resulting publication is a series of intimate portraits of the women who have inspired her, each of whom was encouraged to bring their own ideas and experiences into every picture. At heart it’s a book about honesty. ‘I wanted to portray all the different sides of what it means to be a woman,’ says Brianna. ‘I didn’t want to shove this idea of “strong women” down anyone’s throat because that’s not all that we are. We go beyond that. We’re strong, yes, but we have our flaws and our insecurities too.’
