London-based stylist Beatriz Maués and photographer Will Grundy first met in New York in 2013. Not long afterwards they began collaborating on the personal project ‘Thrift’, which continued from 2013 to 2017; much longer than your average shoot! Born out of their desire to celebrate sustainability and resourcefulness over throwaway wastefulness, ‘Thrift’ consists of a series of portraits of their friends and models wearing pre-owned clothing from charity shops, vintage shops and archives, the best of which have since been published in a very limited edition 54-page art book. ‘It all happened organically, we did not have a plan,’ Maués has admitted. ‘The first shoot came from a desire to collaborate and the idea of combining fashion, photography and travel seemed utopian, which led to revisiting it from time to time.’
