Although London may be in the south, Northern England has had a massive influence on Britain’s – and the world’s – fashion scene from the mid-20th century onwards. Now an exhibition from writer Lou Stoppard and lecturer Adam Murray explores this influence through a presentation of key artworks, clothing garments, documentary photography and, of course, fashion photography: everything from Jamie Hawkesworth’s much acclaimed series of portraits from his hometown, ‘Preston Bus Station’, to Alice Hawkins’ iconic fashion shoot starring girls from Liverpool, ‘The Liver Birds’, for Love magazine in 2012.
